The Trend

It has now become a routine for the "top four" to record similar results when they don't play at the same time or day. If it continues like that Liverpool will be happy but even Rafa know that stormy winds are gathering momentum and heading in their way. When they fail to put up champions style of performance in the next few weeks they would be hot. The team they have this season can do something if they avoid some unnecessary goals in their net. The likes of Keane, Benayoun, Kuyt, Carragher and Gerard make a winning team.

We should feel sorry for Arsenal because it looks it going to be a torrid christmas for them unless Messieur Wenger comes up something magical. Fabregas' injury has a more far-reaching than we see. This is because they never really filled the vacuum created by Vierra and now Fabregas is not going to be there for that long time(4 month).

Chelsea in Ghana strongly believe that its the absence of their beloved son that is worrying Chelsea so much that they can't take a firm grip on the league. I think it boils downs to Drogba. He has been left by a combination injuries and bad boy status in the eyes of Scolari. The fact is that he wants to leave the Bridge. Anelka is not the type of player for Chelsea, he always want the ball to played to him in a certian way. Strikers like Drogba and Torres can blossom in any team but not Anelka.

The moment any of the top four teams finds a consistent form things would look better. The question is when? Manchester would feel they can do something because they left their rivals at home and went to Asia to pick a trophy few would like to talk about(except United fans) and things at the top do look very tantalising based on what they think they can do with their outstanding matches. They have a reputation of doing well during this part of the season so we should doubt their optimism.

We should also not forget life at the bottom of the table. This season has been extraordinary no one seems to fall behind for long. One week a team would be seen pondering over possible relegation but a couple of weeks later they would be consindering a place in Europe next season. The bottom half is no respector of money because the richest in the world has been caught there and they are finding it hard to relieve themselves.

The season finale wouold be of epic proportions, so many things would be decided then. Let keep our fingers crossed and see what would happen.

The Closest So Far

I would like to keep it simple and short for this very first post. The reason why I call my blog 'English Premier League for Ghanaians' is that within the past three years we have shifted most of our attention to England due to two reasons. One is that the local league has not lived up to expectations and most Ghanaians are losing(if they have not already) interest in it. The other reason is Michael Essien. Ever since Jose Mourinho took him to Stamford Bridge Ghanaian have started to follow every thing he does. There could be other reasons why Ghanaians have come to like to Premier league but I think the afore mentioned dominate.

When I say 'The closest so far' then I want to say the Premier League is witnessing it closest race in years. The unique thing is that no team has a firm grip on the race. Arsenal have been given the nickname that Chelsea once held 'Consistently Inconsistent Team' yet they seem to follow the pack, Manchester United have been far from their devastating form which helped them to win the league twice on the trot. Chelsea look like school boys at home these days and the leaders Liverpool, although are doing well, one can sense that at some point they would crumble under the pressure of winning it after that long time(1990). We all saw what Hull City and Stoke did to them. Nonetheless they are playing the most efficient football at the moment.

Whatever be the case I think this season's race would go to the wire. The teams that would ultimately decide who wins the title (the king makers) would be Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspurs, Everton and Manchester City. In my next post I would go deep and explain this assertion.
